Tara Parker-Pope wrote a good piece in the May 13 New York Times on osteoporosis, osteopenia, and bone health. You can read the piece (in which I’m quoted) here.
You also might want to visit the Bone Health section of our website. There you can find information about osteopenia, osteoporosis, clinical trials, and more.

I am a 55 yr old,on HRT for about 5 yrs.(1mg Estradiol/1.25 mg Norethindrone) I also have Osteopenia. Every year when I go to see my Gyne. I am concerned about the breast cancer/estrogen link. She continues to tell me that there is no proof and that I need it for my bones. My mother had breast cancer. Although I don’t have the breast problems she did, I am very concerned. Is there anything else I can do besides exercise/diet to improve my bone health? I also take extra Vit.D and 1200mgs calcium/day. What are your thoughts on the bone health-estrogen link?

  2. I am looking for info about the possibility of connection between low Vt.D and Breast Cancer increased incident??
