I think our 7th International Symposium may have been the best one yet! We will have a full conference report for you to read soon. But for now, take a look you can watch the Symposium overview presented at the Public Panel here.
Also, this year, we started a new grant procedure, our Challenge to Collaborate. The Challenge was designed to get researchers to focus on the critical barriers that are keeping us from understanding the normal breast and how breast cancer starts by forming consortiums that would develop proposals that would truly move this research forward. On the final day of the Symposium, nine multispecialty and multi-nationality teams presented their concepts, and, that evening, at the Foundation’s Award Dinner, a total of $90,000 was awarded to the six best proposals. Each consortium will use its planning grant to solidify its ideas and obtain initial data, with the aim of submitting a full proposal to the Avon Foundation for Women for additional funding. You can learn about the six consortiums and what they will be studying here.
