I just returned from an incredible meeting in Erlangen, Germany, where I met with a brilliant group of researchers hailing from Utrecht, Frankfurt, Toronto, and Los Angeles!  This consortium resulted from work presented at the Foundation’s Intraductal Symposium, which was held last February.

Our goal is to take the ductoscope (a very tiny scope that you can thread through the nipple to see into a milk duct) to the next level by using wavelengths of light that can make precancerous changes appear a different color than the normal tissue—and then biopsy them through the scope.  Star Wars, here we come!
After some preliminary work we will apply for a larger grant that will allow our consortium to conduct a larger research project to determine the scope’s effectiveness. Want to help us make that happen? And want to have fun while you do?

Well, if you live in the Los Angeles area, or will be visiting in September, then come out and boogie with me to support the Foundation’s groundbreaking research at the Second Annual Love Jam! (previously called Mammojam), which is being held on September 22 at Club Rise in Hollywood.

Not only will you get to dance the night away at one of the hottest clubs in Hollywood, but special celebrity guest Louis Van Amstel from ABC’s hit show Dancing With The Stars will be there to teach all of us some of today’s most popular dance moves!

This is dance a party for everyone! Especially those of us who are past our 20s but still like to dance and have a good time! And remember: working up a sweat helps reduce breast cancer!

Invite your girlfriends, boyfriends, mother, sisters, daughters, sons, husband, wife, partner, co-workers and neighbors. You can even start your own Love Jam team!

Don’t live in LA? You can still take part by signing up to support one of the teams, like the Dancing Queens and Glick’s Chicks, who will be rocking the dance floor as they do their part to go beyond a cure.

Work for or head up a company you think should be supporting us on the dance floor? We are currently looking for sponsors for the 2011 Love Jam. If you are interested in sponsoring the event or have ideas for sponsors, please contact us at: events@dslrf.org.

Don’t wait! Register for the 2011 Love Jam or to support a team TODAY! See you on the dance floor!
